Maozai is a cat that keeps you company on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

My cat is not on my Apple Watch

Bring a cat home in the iPhone app first, then open Maozai on the watch. The two need to be near each other the first time. If the watch app is missing, install it from the Watch app on your iPhone, under Available Apps.

It does not react to my steps or workouts

The cat needs your permission to read Apple Health. Open Maozai, tap the gear at the top right, and choose Connect Health. If you declined before, turn the items on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › Maozai.

I am not getting meal or water reminders

Reminders are notifications. Open Maozai, tap the gear, choose Notification Settings, and allow them. It also tells you when it goes to bed and when it gets up. Between those two times, which you can change on the same page, it does not remind you to eat or drink.

How do I start over with another cat

Tap the gear, then Choose Another Cat. The chat and the diary of the current cat are erased with it.

It only gives short, simple answers in chat

Two things can cause that. Either the language model is off: tap the gear, and under Chat turn on Answer with a language model. Or today's free messages are used: without a subscription the language model answers 20 messages a day, and after that the cat answers simply until the next day.

How do I subscribe, cancel or restore a subscription

Tap the gear, and under Chat choose Subscribe. The subscription removes the daily limit of 20 messages; everything else in the app is free either way. To cancel, tap the gear, then Manage Subscription, or open the App Store, tap your picture, then Subscriptions. On a new phone, open the same Subscribe page and tap Restore Purchases.

Where is my data

The diary, your settings and everything read from Apple Health stay on your devices. There is no account. Chat messages are sent to a language model only if you allow it, and are not kept. See the privacy policy for details.
